App Servers

An App Server is a running application instance managed by Muppy — a complete server with your code, its runtime, a database, and a public HTTPS URL. App Servers are created from an App Definition (a reusable template) by duplication, so each instance carries its own configuration.

This section documents how to configure and operate App Servers.

Topics

  • How Muppy Exposes Your Application — the path from a visitor to your process, the URLs an App Server is given, and every control on its Network tab. Start here.
  • Network Configuration — the reference: how a host name is built, and what makes a URL public behind Cloudflare.
  • How to Protect Your App Servers with Sunray Zero Trust — the setup checklist, the shared token and its rotation, and how to verify which names are actually guarded.
  • Server Plans — the sizes an App Definition offers: how a plan is named and keyed, and how to generate a whole range of them in one pass.
  • High-Availability Packs — one application on several sites: what the Setup Muppy Pack wizard does, and where a standby's database comes from.
  • Choosing an App Definition — the available templates, generic Ubuntu vs. stack templates, and which Ubuntu LTS to pick.
